Pickleball rules basics for drop-in court play
- Non-volley zone (kitchen): no volleying with any foot inside the 7 ft zone except on the bounce.
- Games often go to 11, win by 2; local open play may use rally scoring—ask at the court.
- Yield to players already on court; stack paddles or use a rotation board when posted.
This is a short refresher for beginners at public courts. Tournament and club rules can differ; when in doubt, ask regulars or read posted signs.
Official rules evolve—see USA Pickleball rulebook for the current edition. CourtlyMaps does not officiate games or settle disputes.
